Good Afternoon Ozark Area, June 24, 2002
I want to personally welcome any visitors with us here today, and I want to thank you all for showing your support to this area by here and participating in this subcommittee meeting.
I hope everyone enjoyed this past month. The meetings I attended seemed to be striving. I was fortunate to see several fellow addicts return this month from relapse. I also saw some new faces come in this month and pick up their very first surrender key tag! It is great to see it still working.
One of us barely made it back this week. She is a single parent. She suffered a seizure and multiple strokes, only a couple of years older than I am. The disease nearly killed her this time. Today I want to remind myself and each of you that 'no addict seeking recovery need die from the horrors of addiction" as long as I do my part, and you do yours.
Again this month I want to thank each of you for helping me serve on this committee. I appreciate each one of you. You are all doing outstanding jobs!
OASC Chair,
Shelie V. 626-0997
Wendy A.
Reports that things seem like they are going well in the subcommittees and that she is not submitting a written report as the subcommittees already make their own reports.
Jackie C.
Jackie asked if we could reimburse HOLP Committee for money they loaned to AWAM for t-shirts. (Tabled till old business)

Hello Ozark Area,
Our first anniversary celebration (the 23rd birthday for our area) was a great success. I want to thank everyone for coming and a special thank you to everyone that showed up and helped out. The Ozark Area really does know how to have a great time and we have proven that once again. After paying the bills I am very happy to have $433.00 for the area. I still have $20.00 to collect for 2 t-shirts that I still have. Our next function should have been the Unity Day Phone link with world but we missed the deadline for having registered for that. So we will leave it up to the area to let us know when they would like for us to have the next function. Thank you again for making my job so easy!
In Loving Service,
Bridgit B.

Hello Ozark Area,
I chaired my first H & I meeting this month at the "But Do It Group's" picnic.
We had approximately 20 addicts in attendance and I think it went very well. We discussed the "do's and don'ts" regarding NA presentations for H & I meetings. We also asked for a volunteer to chair the Ozark Treatment Center meeting on the 4th Sunday of the month. Ray B. stepped up and took the responsibility. Thank you Ray.
We, as a committee voted in "that the chairs for H & I presentations should be terms from June through December and January through June". This gives a opportunity for addicts that have acquired the clean time requirement to step up and have a chance to take chair positions and to give the previous chairs a chance to step down, if they choose, to have a change in their recovery.
We would like to thank Renita for taking the H & I secretary position and keeping notes at our meeting.
H & I is still doing very well. We are holding 8 presentations in 3 facilities.
I am looking forward to H & I Regional meeting being held in July.
Thanks to this committee for all your support and love.
Love & Service,
Kenny C.

Public Information Subcommittee Report to Ozark Area, June 23, 2002 As was reported in May, an NA member talked with me about concerns about a flier. The flier stated, " 12 Steps for Christians, A support group for AA and NA members." The text of the flier was sent to World Service P.I. to ask if this was a tradition violation. The day after the e-mail was sent we had an answer. WSO-PI let us know there was no tradition violation since this was not an NA group and we could not expect an outside group to abide by NA Traditions. They recommended nothing be done. If, however, Ozark Area wanted a response to be made, they suggested we ask if the group would consider changing the wording of their flier as it could imply affiliation, and to ask in a loving and caring way. The May 26 P.I. meeting was held in Pittsburg, Against All Odds Group. Tim K. and myself and two NA members from Pittsburg were in attendance. A list was compiled to send P.I. letters out in Pittsburg offering information and presentations on N.A. Mid-Missouri Area requested a copy of our P.I. Guidelines to help them write theirs. The info. was e-mailed to their P.I. Chair. Our next P.I. Subcommittee meeting is next Sunday, June 30 at 1330 Wall in Joplin, MO. The focus will be the Area Phoneline and planning for a Phoneline Workshop at High On Life Picnic. This workshop will be the July meeting of the subcommittee. The updated meeting schedules are done. We also have many copies of a flier with our phoneline on strips on the bottom that can be torn off. Thank you Debra B. and David B. Trisha made fliers for next week's meeting. I am sorry to say we have had no requests for information or presentations yet. In loving service, Pam Mueller, Ozark Area P.I. Hello Ozark Area,
Things with the picnic are moving along very well. At this time we have $533.47 in the bank and I have $804.50 to deposit for a total of $1337.97. Over the next month we will be spending approx. $1300.00 on merchandise, food and condiments for the weekend. The program for the picnic is done and ready for the printer. The name tags and banner are done and on hand. Also the Hug Patrol shirts are done and they turned out great. Steve G. and I took a road trip to Bucksaw and ironed out all the small details and I would like to mention that Bucksaw Point looked great, they have done a lot of work to the place. Bucksaw is SOLD OUT the only thing left is the bunkhouse. So far we have 82 pre-reg. in and the record is 86 made back in 1998. This year at the picnic we will be having a Coke wagon instead of canned pop, so we need people to run the wagon. Also we found a cooker for the picnic, Jim from Anderson is going to be bringing his cooker and we have people lined up to cook the food. The committee would like to thank Pam M. for her service, she took and sold $370.00 worth of merchandise at SMRCNA. Also if your group is going to chair a workshop at the picnic please get with me or show up to the next picnic meeting, July 21,2002. I am more than sure that I have left something out of the report so if you have any questions please ask or better yet show up at our next subcommittee meeting 1 hour prior to the next ASC.

David B.

Hello Ozark Area, my name is Eddie and I am an addict. I am also GSR for Blood, Sweat-n-Tears group in Nevada, MO. We meet every Friday night at 8:00pm at 301 S. Pine St.
We are averaging 15-20 addicts per meeting. Our meetings are open meetings and smoking meetings.
We co-sponsored the Unity Bash in cooperation with the Set Free Group of Nevada. We consider the Unity Bash a success, the message was carried to the addict.

Our GSR’s baby arrived yesterday, so I am acting as our group rep. today.
The “Can’t Put a Price on Recovery” annual group picnic was successful. We had a larger turnout than last year (about a hundred people attended), just as much fun, and Tony S. the speaker carried a fine NA message of Recovery.
Thanks to the AWAM committee for the roll of raffle tickets, and to Russ the zealot for hawking the entire roll.
The proceeds from this event, plus our monthly group donation totals 210.00

Hello Ozark Area,
I apologize for my absence this month. I am getting custody of my son and had to go to Michigan to pick him up. I had hoped to be there to introduce you all to We Do Recover’s new Alt. GSR, Renita and would like to thank her for filling in in my absence.

Sharing Session:
Shavett asked Dave B. if anyone was “lined up” for 2003 HOLP Chair. Dave said no and expressed that the vice-chair was not interested in becoming the new chair.
15 min. Recess
Old Business:
Vote for RCM Alternate – Steve H. elected.
Vote for Literature Review Chair – Darlene L. elected.
Vote to raise treasurer’s budget from $25 to $50. Passed.
Area received a total of $748.00 in donations this month, which leaves us with a balance of $999.47. We agreed last month to reimburse the HOLP Committee for the money we borrowed last month to buy the t-shirts for the AWAM Committee if we were above our prudent reserve. Since we are above the prudent reserve, the money will be reimbursed.
We discussed who should be the 3rd signature on OASC’s bank account. Our guidelines state that the Chair, the RCM and the Treasurer are the signatures on the account, so Shelie V. will be added to the account.
New Business:
Outreach Chair and HOLP Subcommittee Chair are vacant. OASC is seeking nominations to fill those positions.
Doug B. – Point of information: We don’t have a Outreach Committee. Why do we have a vacancy for Outreach Chair?
We discussed the vote of confidence for the RCM to vote for regional positions, because we believed that the group conscience votes would not be returned in time. Four groups voted for their specific choices. Those tallies were turned over to Steve H.
Jackie C. suggested a donation to Region of $256.80 followed by some discussion to assure that no groups needed assistance before we voted to do this. The vote was unanimous; we will send the money to region.
Pam M. – David and his wife in Lamar are trying to start a new meeting there. He has communicated with Willie C.
Wendy A. – Is starting a new group. Gay-Lesbian open meeting, which is not a specialty group since it is an open meeting. She asked for a starter kit. Pam M. said starter kits were available free over the internet at the WSO website. Wendy said she would check there.
Blood, Sweat and Tears to host next month’s OASC meeting at 301 S. Pine St., Nevada, MO on July 21, 2002.
5th Tradition Group is planning a Float Trip for the 2nd weekend in August. Location TBA.
The last meeting of the 2002 HOLP Subcommittee is scheduled for 1:00pm, July 21st, 301 S. Pine St. in Nevada, MO, right before OASC meeting.
July 20th and on the 3rd Saturday of each month the H&I Subcommittee meets at 3pm and the AWAM Subcommittee meets at 4pm at the High on Life Club, 618 Jackson, Joplin, MO.
Motion to close and 2nded. Meeting closed with the We version of the Serenity Prayer.
