Check #5386 for $10.00 purchase of AWAM T-Shirt returned for NSF. Bank charge back is $10.00 for check and $8.00 bank charges = $18.00
Addict called to let me know I would be getting the check back from bank.
She gave me $25.00 coverage for the check. I assumed it was for a HOLP T-Shirt so I gave it to David B. which he deposited it in HOLP account. When I finally received notice from the bank, I then realized it was a AWAM T-Shirt and it affected the area account not the HOLP account. David B. issued me a check for $25.00 for reimbursement of this NSF check.
Addict only owes $18.00 for check and bank charges, so we have $7.00 extra. I need area’s approval for issuing a check for $7.00 to this addict.
Fund collected at June 23, 2002 area meeting were $10.00 and given to Spiritual Principles for hosting area.

Moved & 2nded & passed to return $7.00. Addict stated that the $7.00 would be an area donation.
Hello OASC,
If anyone submitting a report has e-mail and is willing to send their report before OASC or by the Monday evening after Area, it would be appreciated. Also, if you provide verbal information that is not in your written report, please indicate this so I can record that information in the minutes. I cannot e-mail flyers with the minutes.
I have forgotten the receipts for printing and mailing minutes, I will bring them next month. Postage was $5.13. I don’t remember the exact amount for printing but it was less than $10.

Hello Ozark Area,
I don’t have a lot to report for AWAM this month. We had our subcommittee meeting and there were only 3 of us there so we have decided that the next AWAM function will be Saturday, September 28. We want to try to have a function somewhere that we can have a campfire meeting or maybe just at a park somewhere. We will be finalizing these plans in the next week or two and then the fliers will be out and any help that you, the area, can offer would be greatly appreciated.
Thank You
In Loving Service,
Bridgit B.
AWAM Subcommittee meets the 3rd Saturday of each month at 618 Jackson at 4pm.
Kenny C.
Greetings Ozark Area.
H&I is doing we well. We held 8 presentations total this month. Two in Jasper Co. Jail, 0 in Newton Co. Jail due to their security, one in Lafayette house, there was no meeting on the 4th of July there. We held five meetings at Ozark Treatment Center this month. The Subcommittee meeting was held at High on Life Club Sat. July 20 at 3pm. Seven were in attendance. Now new business was discussed. I’m sorry I was not able to attend the regional meeting this time, due to a work obligation.
Jackee C. is Secretary and took my report up for me and reported back. A copy of that report is being handed out with this one.
Nothing much was covered in that meeting either, except that the flyer is coming for H&I that will go out with the literature orders.
Thank You Ozark Area
Love & Service, Kenny C.
Kenny C. requested $286.50 for literature. Tabled till new business.
The attachment to the H&I report is as follows:
H & I Regional Meeting
Meeting July 13th at 1:30 pm
Positions: Chair – Dennis H. – Attended
Vice-Chair – Brian C. – Not Attended
Secretary – Jackee C. – Attended
Regionals were last weekend. I was unable to attend, I had to work last Sat. and it was mandatory, so Jackee represented our area.
This is the following information she brought back:
Area information: St. Louis area is carrying 52 meetings a month.
United Kansas area is carrying 31 meetings a month.
St. Charles area is carrying 28 meetings a month.
Ozark area is carrying 13 meetings a month.
All of the above meetings are either treatment facilities or jails. I know we are getting the message out to the newcomer. That’s great.
OLD BUSINESS DISCUSSION:
H & I Flyers: Jackee is to obtain the remaining area H & I Chairs to complete flyer.
Jackee is to bring a flyer to next regional meeting in October.
(Kenny can explain flyer)
Brian C. is to take over position of H & I Regional Chair.
NEW BUSINESS DISCUSSION:
United Kansas area discussed a NA member wanting to carry the message by chairing a meeting, under the influence of prescribed meds. The meds he was taking would let him barely carry the message, so the area voted that he could not carry the message until he was stabilized on his meds.
St. Louis areas is having a annual dance but does not have a date yet.
St. Charles area is dropping one treatment facility at St. Josephs, but is also expanding into 3 new treatment facilities. They are also making up T-shirts for a non-profit function stating theme H & I awareness. No date yet for function.
In St. Charles area wanted NA Literature for meeting. This individual take the meeting to a treatment facility but does not want to be involved with H & I. Dennis indicated we cannot help him with literature if he chooses not to be involved because of guidelines for representation of area.

Hello Ozark Area,
Things with the picnic are going good. Over the last month I have confirmed all the speakers and have touched base with Bucksaw again just to make sure everything is in place. The D.J. and venders have also been contacted. After last months meeting we had a lot more pre registrations come in and we started noticing that we had a lot of coffee mugs ordered. I became concerned about this and called an emergency sub committee meeting. I contacted everyone on the sub committee, the Area Chair, Vice Chair and Tres. At the meeting we decided to order another ˝ gross (72) coffee mugs to sell at the picnic. The committee as a whole does not for see any problems with selling them. I ordered the mugs on July 2 and called on July 19 to see if they had came in and the company had somehow lost the order so they are going do an in plant rush and ship the mugs to Bucksaw. I talked to Joe at Bucksaw and he said that would be fine, so the mugs will arrive at Bucksaw by 10:30 a.m. on Friday July 26. The company is going to pay for all shipping charges. We ended up with 120 pre registrations and we have $1299.86 in the bank and everything we have on hand is paid for. Out of all the checks we have taken in this year only one has came back, I contacted the member who wrote the check last week and they are going to take care of it at the picnic. At our last Area meeting I thought we would be spending around $1300.00 and we only had around $700.00 go out. I didn’t do much of the shopping due to the fact of not having much more room at my house, I think if my wife sees anymore picnic stuff come through my front door I may need a place to stay. SO over the next few days before the picnic we will be spending around $600.00 to $700.00 on stuff for the picnic like coffee, cups, plates, sugar, creamer and ect. The committee would like to ask the groups to consider donating a Basic Text for the new comer. If you can, please bring them to the picnic. We also need raffle items. A couple of people are going up Wednesday and a bunch of us are going up on Thursday so if you can come early and help out, hang out and have some fun. I’m looking forward to seeing all of you at the picnic.

David B.

Greetings Area,
I am very excited to bring you my first report as lit. review chair. I would like to thank the area NA members for their faith in me.
I attended the Regional bus. mtg. this mo. and learned a great deal. It’s been awhile since this area has had a lit chair, there has been a lot of exciting things happening so hold on to your hats.
First concerning the Basic Text, in the past there has been discussion about changing some things. At that time the only conclusion we (NA) has was that we couldn’t decide. So the WSO brought in a professional to draw up surveys which results would show if in fact we even wanted any changes. These surveys include changes to the White Booklet. I have copies of these to take back to their home groups. They need to be filled out by individual NA members and back by the next ASC. I would also like for the members of this ASC to fill these out and return them to me before we leave today. The Regional Lit Chair discussed doing a “Road Show”, going to the different areas and presenting the progress lit has made in recent months.
3 of the things the WSO is evaluating right now are (1) Is the Basic Text serving the needs of the international community? There are ethnic and cultural differences. (2) Is the Basic Text gender specific? (3) Dow we want the word God removed?
The Sponsorship lit has now become an actual Project Plan. The WSO will continue to accept more sponsorship surveys thru Oct. however, they are starting to see redundancy in responses and have said they really do have enough feedback at this point.
Another project is Lit. in Common Needs articles. Our Region picked 5 topics to work on to sent to World. Keep in mind this is how I.P.’s and new lit gets started. They need our input. The five topics are as follows: (1) Recovering with HepC and AIDS. This may change to Facing Chronic Illness in Recovery. (2) A Traditions Workgroup. The Lone Star region has already completed a rough draft on Trad. 1-8 for a traditions Workbook. (3) Seniors in Recovery – or For those with 10 + Years Clean. (4) Those in Prison and (5) Women in Recovery.
As you can see there is a lot going on with our literature. It is up to ou, the NA member to get involved. I am passing around a phone list for the GSR’s so I can contact you about the 1st Literature Subcommittee mtg. And GSR’s it is your responsibility to inform your homegroup and GSR’s you don’t have to wait until your bus. mtg. to do this. Announce it at regular meeting times, get a piece of paper and a parker – post it. Lets get our Area involved.
In Loving Service, Darlene L.

Old Business:
None
New Business:
Darlene- requested reimbursement for the room she paid for at the Regional Business Meeting.
Discussion of how we should reserve rooms & the approximate expenses for Regional Business Meeting.
Dave B. stated that HOLP had $500.00 or $600.00 extra in the account and HOLP could help H&I with it’s literature order, since the money was Area’s money anyway. Moved, 2nded and passed to transfer $300.00 from the HOLP account to the OASC account for the H & I request.
Linda Q. – Where do the Archives of the Area minutes she used to proofread belong. It was determined they should go to the secretary.
Shavett G. – Are all other GSR’s operating under any guidelines other than the guidelines in the Group Service Manual. It was determined that other groups are operating under the guidelines in the Group Service Manual.
Donna W. – Does Ozark Area have a liaison for WSR? She expressed willingness to hold that position.
It was determined that we do not have a liaison for WSR and that it is not the Literature Chair’s responsibility.
Discussion regarding the purpose of WSR (Writing Steps for Recovery), the responsibilities of the liaison, to who the liaison is accountable and the benefits of Ozark Area having a liaison for WSR. It was determined that the responsibility of liaison was to bring information from Region back to our area. That the position is not a part of a subcommittee. That the liaison is an appointed position.
Moved, 2nded and passed for Area to appoint Donna W. as WSR Liaison for Ozark Area.
It was suggested that the NA Way needs articles and that there is a form which must be filled out and sent along with the article.
Dave B. asked for the Frisbees and cups, which were donated to Area by Region, to use for the HOLP.
It was suggested that struggling groups might benefit more from those items, that there would be plenty of stuff for the HOLP already.
Dave suggested that Area give the those items to the 5th Tradition Group. The items were given to 5th Tradition Group.
We Do Recover to host next month’s OASC meeting at 1330 Wall, Joplin, MO on August 18, 2002, 2:00pm

Motion to close and 2nded. Meeting closed with the We version of the Serenity Prayer.
