Additions or corrections to last month’s minutes:  Yes

1 3rd paragraph under new business in August minutes should not be there at all.  That discussion happened in July 2006.  The following needs to be omitted from August minutes:  “Enter the motion about webmaster. We do need to have further discussion on how we want to do this. Renita states that do we really have the money to pay someone to work the website, when we can not afford literature. Bruce has said to invite Debra B to our Area Meeting, have her here for any questions about OASC before we make any decisions. It has been suggested that all GSRs write down all of the questions they may have. Lynn L suggests that all of this needs to be tabled until next month, 2nd, passed. Motion failed.”

2  Statement directly following the above paragraph also needs to be omitted from August minutes:  “Set up Ad-hoc committee to fix this current situation. As far as when the voting should be held. Failed.”

3  Price of Joplin Globe stated in 1st motion in August minutes should be changed from $516/yr to $561.60/yr.

ADMINISTRATIVE REPORTS:

Chair:  Hello Ozark Area.

I don’t have much to report this month.  As before.  If voted in I’m going to give this chair another ride for the next year.  I hope this year goes as well as the last.  I want to thank everyone for their hard work and dedication to the cause.  I look forward to working with all of you.  Thanks again.

ILS  Kenny C.

Vice-Chair:  Greetings OASC:

This past month I attended meetings at several different Joplin groups.  We continue to welcome new and returning members into our fellowship.  Yesterday I attended subcommittee meetings at WDR from 1:30pm- 4:40pm.  9 addicts attended the PI subcommittee meeting.  6 addicts attended the AASC subcommittee meeting.  And 10 addicts attended the H&I subcommittee meeting.

Annually in November Ozark Area tries to conduct an area inventory as well as discuss our annual budget.  Looking at past minutes I found some simple questions that groups can discuss if members agree that these are appropriate questions in order to see if there are things we can do to improve this subcommittee.  I found this list of questions in our archives dated 6/19/05.

            1. How well does our monthly committee meeting (ASC) meet the needs of our groups?

                        A. What works?  B. What doesn’t work?  C. Suggestions for improvement.

            2.  How well do our area subcommittees serve the groups?

                        A. What works?  B. What doesn’t work?  C. Suggestions for improvement.

How well do they serve the community?

                        A. What works?  B. What doesn’t work?  C. Suggestions for improvement.

            3.  How well does our area support our region?   A.  Suggestions for improvement.

            4.  How well does our area support the world?    A.  Suggestions for improvement.

            5.  What are the top 5 things that our area could focus on in order to improve?

The budget sent to groups Nov. 2005 that was voted in Feb. 2006 follows:

PI                                2600

H&I                             1200

Secretary                        150

Treasurer                       100

Lit. Review                    300

AASC                          1364

RCM                           1432

                                  $7146

This information was compiled simply for my convenience.  Whether or not this area wants to use these inventory questions is up to its members.  Thank you for allowing me to be of service.

ILS - Shelie V., OASC Vice Chair

Secretary:  Hello OASC

Debra, the webmaster and I are working on getting some archive meeting notes to put on our website.  If any of you have minutes dating back before 2001, would you give them to me.  I will make copies and give you back your originals.  I have a box of archive material that I am scanning and burning on disk.  If you have any information to fill in what I don’t have that would be great.  I have made the necessary corrections to the July 2006 OASC minutes.  I did not send a new copy of corrected minutes to anyone.  If you are interested in receiving the corrected copy, please notate that at the top of your report today, and I will get those out Monday or Tuesday.  I received an email from the webmaster stating the OASC minutes used to include group and area functions coming up.  She states it would be good to get back to that, could this be a topic of discussion in the sharing session?  I have given each of you an information sheet with a new email address.  As of the OASC 9/17/06 I will be using the email address for the secretary provided on our website.  From now on please use that email address to contact me regarding anything to do with the OASC. The email address you will use is ozarksecretary@ozarkasc.com.  I do appreciate your cooperation.  In addition, I will keep my current email address which is -------.  Any of you that have been on the trusted servants list if you have any corrections such as new address phone number and if you have changed your email address or set up an email address please notate that on your report today.  I will be updating the trusted servants list after October 2006 OASC meeting.  I also wanted to mention after I complete the minutes I send them to Kenny C for review.  When I get his ok I send them out to each of you.  When you get your minutes and you see something missing or typed incorrectly please notify me as soon as possible so I can get the corrections made before the next OASC meeting.  This way I don’t get backed up on corrections.  I am giving a report to Jackee concerning the expense for sending out material to all the GSRs.  Photocopies came to $9.02.  Mailing came to $5.40.  I told Jackee just to make the check out for $14.42.  I have a new land line phone number which is----.  I am keeping my cell phone for personal use.

In Loving Service,    Allen L.

RCM:  Hello Ozark Area.

I did finally receive my regional minutes.  The only thing I hadn’t reported on was Outreach and Campvention.  I don’t have Outreach report but I know personally Campvention went well with 203 registrations and plenty of prime rib and volleyball.  There were 5 nominations for Regional positions and with no time to get those back to groups I can either ask to table nominations or personally carry our Area’s conscience.  Region will be October 14, 15 & 16 in Jefferson City MO.

Service with a SMILE,  Dale S.  Ozark Area RCM

SUBCOMMITTEE REPORTS:

AASC:

AASC met Sat. 9/16/06 at 1330 Wall.  We didn’t have much business to conduct.  There are no new nominations for AASC Chair.  The Chili Cook-off will be 11/11/06 at Galena Senior Citizen’s Center.  Don M will be the speaker.  Shavett will DJ.  Fliers will be out at next OASC.  Please announce in your groups that we need artwork for next year’s picnic.

In loving service,  Renita G.

H&I:  Hello Ozark Area

H&I subcommittee yesterday discussed taking a book study in Ozark Center C-Star on Virginia and 3rd.  I will talk to them Mon. or Tues. to get times and days lined out.  We do have volunteers to fulfill this obligation.  We discussed H&I t-shirt that was brought up by an H&I committee member.  This was voted against by the subcommittee due to division of unity.  Ozark Center, Lafayette House, McDonald County, Jasper County, all doing well.  Still looking into doing a learning days workshop.  No date set.  Also would like to know if any other committee might be interested in combining into one setting.  H&I subcommittee meetings will be moving from 4pm to 2:30pm.

In Loving Service,  Steve S.

PI:  Greetings Ozark Area-

Not much going on at this time.  Two members of the subcommittee are looking into running ads in the Joplin Herald and Grace Magazine.  Also dropped off PSA at radio stations and KSN-KODE TV stations.  Have not seen or heard the ads.  I will double check and call them tomorrow.  Called cable company about PSA.  They have to be on Beta format.  I’m going to request $20 from PI budget to purchase RW/DVD and Allen volunteered to put PSA on them with Beta format.  Also subcommittee would like to see about lines being added to the back of meeting schedules for phone numbers if it’s ok with area.  I’ll hook up with to get literature.  I have set up volunteers to hit our literature racks around town.  We need to fill them up.  Also subcommittee voted in Dawson G as new vice chair for PI.  Hope this won’t be a problem with chair election coming up next month.  Bruce said he would stay on to manage the phone line.  That’s it for now.

In Humble Service,  Pat H. Vice Chair PI Guy
