Hello OASC,
I am still having a great time! My expenses for the September minutes were $3.83 printing, envelopes, and postage $4.15 for a total of $7.98.
This month, I did not send hardcopies of minutes to those I could e-mail. I did however mail copies of the flyers to the GSRs, since they need those to share with their groups. I cannot e-mail the flyers because the file size of a scanned copy is too cumbersome. However, groups wishing to e-mail flyers in their original format are welcome to do so. You can also bring me the file on a floppy to OASC. I can open a large number of different formats, though not all. These other formats normally result in a much smaller file size, which can be e-mailed. It is worth a try to see if I can attach them to the minutes for e-mail.
If anyone submitting a report has e-mail, you can e-mail your reports to me before OASC. I would appreciate it.
If you have any additions or corrections to the OASC address list, let me know.
In Loving Service,
Lori H.

Hello Ozark Area,
The two motions I mentioned last month are:
Also added to my report are Regional Resumes for position, and I’m not sure which one’s are closed, but if you could vote on them and bring them back, just in case.
Also, ask your groups if there are any concerns for me to take to Region.
In Loving Service,

Hello Ozark Area,
Our Chili Cook-off was a lot of fun. I would like to thank everyone for a great time, and congratulations to Dale S. who was this year’s winner. I also want to thank Yvonne G. for the great job she did sharing her story with all of us and also thank you to Bruce A. and his band for playing for us. We brought in $348.00 after paying for the band and the building rental.
I want to thank the Ozark Area for allowing me to serve as your AWAM chair for the past 19 months. It has definitely been a learning experience for me and it has also been a lot of fun. I hate to leave the Area without another AWAM chair to step in, but it’s time. I am involved with my home group as Secretary and have accepted the position of Literature Review Vice-chair, but most importantly I need to get back to some real step work and work with my sponsor, because we all know that’s how this program really works. Thank you for all of your support.
In loving service,
Bridgit B.
P.S. I would also like to thank Darlene L. for the great job she did with the Literature Review workshop at the Chili Cook-off.
Kenny C.
Hello Area,
Nothing new to report. Same meetings, at the same places, at the same times.
Thank You,

Next meeting: 12/21/2002, 1330 Wall at 3:00pm
Greetings Area,
Lit Review met 11/16/02 at 1330 Wall, 5 addicts and myself in attendance. We elected Vice-Chair and Secretary for our subcommittee. We will be adapting the guidelines from the Lit Handbook – I’ll turn those in at the next OASC.
Our subcommittee is actively working on revisions to Tradition 8 of the Traditions Workbook. We have commitments for the articles in the NA Way.
The workshop at our Area function on the 9th was successful. We read “In Times of Illness” and had a great response. The subcommittee would like to recommend that the groups keep this particular literature on hand.
In Loving Service,
Darlene L.

The Ozark Area Public Information Subcommittee met on October 27 at 1330 Wall. The Chair and the Secretary were the only ones in attendance. We didn't announce the date and time as much as we have in the past. No business was conducted. Numerous NA members have reported that the flyers with slips to tear off with NA helpline number on it are being used. Flyers were sent to Pittsburg, KS. They reported good usage when flyers went up inside convenience store bathrooms. I've been invited by Show-Me Regional P.I. Chair to attend Southern Zonal Forum and present the phoneline training workshop we do for Ozark Area volunteers as a demo. for the other regions in the zone. He had attended the workshop at HOLP and liked it. It makes me proud of Ozark Area and it makes me think of Bert M. because he and I sat at his kitchen table with a Phoneline Handbook and put together the outline for our phoneline training. Bert had decided our phoneline needed more attention and support. He asked if I would help. It shows you what a few addicts can do when they see a need. I will be thinking of Bert in Evansville, Ind. next weekend. I need to ask Ozark Area's help delivering N.A. books to public and high school libraries. I have had the books for over a month and delivered none of them. I am sorry. Every time I look at the boxes, I feel overwhelmed. The delivery sites are -- Columbus, KS, Pittsburg, KS, Cherokee, KS., Neosho, Monett, Webb City, Carthage, Seneca, Carl Junction, Nevada, and Anderson to both public and high school libraries in these towns. And delivery to Joplin High School library. I have phone numbers for all these libraries but Nevada. I have information packets for guidance counselors at these 12 schools. If some members here today would be willing to get the books to these libraries, please get with me after the ASC. I have the books and info. packets here with me. P.I. asks only that you dress, behave, and speak appropriately when doing something like this since the public will see you as an example of N.A. as a whole. It's time to do a thorough update on the meeting schedule. I'm sending it around with some blank paper attached. Please help each other by making sure it gets around the room and back to me. Please put all changes or additions on the notebook paper being sure to note ADD or CHANGE before the info. The next Ozark Area Public Information Subcommittee meeting will be at 2pm on Saturday November 30 at 1330 Wall in Joplin. All committee members
(P. I. and Phoneline) are asked to attend this one.
In Loving Service, Pam M

We Do Recover meets at 1330 Wall, in Joplin every night at 8pm and midnight on Friday and Sat. We continue to have a steady stream of newcomers and we average 50 addicts per meeting.
We had Casino Night last night it seemed to do well.
We are still below our prudent reserve so we do not have an area donation at this time. Hopefully, the funds raised from Casino Night will bring us back up to where we need to be.

Miracles
November 17, 2002
Hello Ozark Area,
My name is David and I am a grateful addict serving a G.S.R. for the Miracles Group. We meet weekly on Friday nights at the First United Methodist Church, located at 501 West 4th Street in Joplin, MO at 6:30 p.m. We are averaging 15 to 20 addicts per meeting. We are fully self-supporting at the present, our rent is paid, and we have everything needed to have our meeting. We have a $53.00 area donation this month. The last Friday of this month will be our first birthday/speaker meeting and Jackee C. will be sharing her story. We hope that all of you can come and fellowship, join in on the celebration of recovery and eat some cake.
We had our monthly business meeting Friday November 15, 2002 and our group talked about something that is already getting old and we are tired of hearing it. Our group wanted me to make it very clear today that we are simply a Narcotics Anonymous meeting. We are not a “Biker Meeting”, people who ride support our meeting and yes, you will see a lot of leather at our meeting. We also welcome children at our meeting we just expect parents to be responsible for their children, we have a very nice place to meet and would like to be able to continue to meet there. We are not the N.A. Nazi group!! Yes, it is true that we are very clear in our format of who we are and why we are there. We are focused on recovery the N.A. Way and not “this is how my day went”. Our group members consist of people that are core members of Narcotics Anonymous and we all support different meetings in Joplin. If you have a problem with our meeting, become a member of our group and come to our business meetings. Its funny how we can all sit in meetings and talk about how much “Unity” is so important but yet the first chance we get we tear it down. I want to apologize to the service committee and the other G.S.R.’s for the lengthy report but like I said the Miracles Group felt that this all needed to be said.
In Loving Service,
David B.
