My printer is not functioning at all, so I’ll be working on getting it fixed or replaced this week.
I’ve had some personal difficulties arise and cannot guarantee I will be able to attend Area next month and I really need
to be done acting as Secretary, so this will be my last month. I will return the secretary’s records at the next OASC. Hopefully,
there will be new nominations this month.

Subcommittee Reports:
Hello Area, May 18, 2003
As I was newly appointed to this positions last Area I have been putting my committee together. I have been unable
to have an AWAM committee meeting due to my having to be in the hospital.
I would like to bring it up to Area to see if we could do the World Unity Day, Saturday, July 5th, the cost for the
telephone link is $50.00 and the deadline for the registrations must be in not later than June 1, 03.
I have a bank card that I can put this on if this is how we decide to go, but I would have to be reimbursed today as
the deadline is 13 days away.
In Loving Service, Sandee A.

Hello Ozark Area,
This is my last report as H&I chair for this area I hope to be going on to Region.

I wish to thank everyone for their help and support the past year and wish the next chair the best.

Literature Review
Darlene L.
Greetings Area,
It is a pleasure to report that we met on May 17, 2003 at 1:00 pm with 5 addicts in attendance. I would like
to again thank everyone who took time out of their day to serve NA. We discussed the results of the surveys and review
on the sponsorship book. The rough draft of the entire book will come in November 2003 with the CAR report.
we also discussed attending the World Service Conference since this is and item of business.
As far as projects, this committee is reconsidering and Area newsletter. Literature Review has a budget
and it looks like the Interim meetings have fallen by the wayside. We would like to keep it simple. If we have the
Area’s blessing on this I can have a rough draft ready at the next OASC or we can get started right away. GSRs can
take this back to the groups if you feel this is necessary, we are here to serve.
The next subcommittee meeting will be held the Saturday before Area at WDR 1:00 pm.
In Loving Service,
Darlene L.

HOLP – Decided on a band vs. DJ contract pending. Will have coffee cups for sale in a couple of weeks.
Everything is on schedule and the money is right. Need people to pre-register and by merchandise!!! ILS Doug B.
!!!Banner Party 1:00pm at 1330 Wall on the Saturday prior to the Area Business Meeting!!!
Discussion: Trying to prove that HOLP does not need $1000 seed money. Didn’t need it last year.

The P. I. Subcommittee met at 2 pm, May 17, 2003 at 1330 Wall. After opening with Serenity Prayer, 12 Traditions and 12 Concepts the updated schedules were passed out. More phoneline calls are being received through the helpline. One problem was discussed regarding one of the helpline volunteers being given an addict's number and then being unable to reach the caller seeking help. The phoneline is suppose to patch the calls through to the volunteers.
The Ozark Area website is located at: http://www.geocities.com/ozark_area/ It is up and running without the P.I. information link and our updated and it has our updated schedule. The HOLP flier and the Unity Bash information is also on the website. A subcommittee member brought up that after searching three different search engines, using "ozark area" nothing came up. The only way to reach us is with the exact address. We need to get the address into the search structure somehow.
Both P.I. and Phoneline workshop were prepped to share at the S.W. Missouri Area Pig Roast. Once at the Pig Roast it seemed no one had been made aware the workshops would be available (no times set or specified place to meet) No one was interested or attended. Copies for 12 - 15 handouts were made so the sub committee discussed options to hold a workshop in Ozark Area. Survivor's Group will be discussing if they want to host a P.I. Workshop and Flier Day. Craig B, Sandee A., and Tim K. volunteered to do the presentations
The subcommittee discussed whether to put the website address on the meeting schedules. Also -- does Ozark Area want the newspaper ad started up again. Are the groups going to be voting on this?
The next P. I. Subcommittee meeting will be June 21, 2003 later in the day at 4:30pm because an NA member who has to work until 3 wants to be involved in PI. Respectfully submitted, Pam Mueller, 119 Connor, Joplin, MO 64801 tele.- 417-782-1467 e-mail- mueller_pam@hotmail.com
Website Update Debra B. Sent to Pam M. via Doug B. address of Ozark Area Website. Public Informatio link removed and up and running. 2 functions posted via Pam M. for May and June. Send any others through her and be glad to post! Will enter website in search tools, such as Yahoo, next week, for more accessibility.
Discussion: Miracles Group concerned about how phone line works. Is answering service better than pager, cell phones… We will not need answering service when Regional gets done with its phone line project.

Reopen with the Serenity Prayer

Against All Odds
Ozark Area Meeting: 5-18-03
Hi, I’m Verna, Recovering Addict. At the last Area meeting hosted by Against All Odds, Ozark Area donated some NA materials, such as a Basic Text, How and Why book, some pamphlets, meeting schedules, and the hotline number to the Pittsburg local library and high school.
On 5-4-03, a group of us went to Just for Today – Independence KS, another Area business meeting, when returned a vote was made. The group went with the other Area. I would like to remain with Ozark Area, and want to continue to help out in any way that’s possible.
Thanks, Verna
Area,
But Do It meets Wednesdays at 6:30 in the Oak Meadows Apartments on 15th St. in Joplin. We have a donation to Area for $20.00.
ILS, Mike S.
Miracles
Hello Ozark Area,
Miracles Group meets on Fridays at 6:30 p.m., located at the First United Methodist Church, 501 West 4th , Joplin, MO, Room #106. Are meeting attendance is steady with 15-25 addicts per meeting. We are starting to plan our 1 year birthday party for the Miracles Group. We are looking at Saturday, September 20, 2003, more will be reviled. We had our monthly business meeting and we talked about a lot of different things that we are seeing over and over that we want to address. I will bring these things up at the appropriate time and place through out the Area Meeting. This month we have an Area donation of $92.50. On a more personal note, this will humbly and gratefully be my last Area Service Committee meeting as GSR for the Miracles Group. Jeff B. will be moving from Alt. GSR to the GSR position and Lori M. will be the new Alt. GSR. I will be forever grateful for the experiences that I have had in Area Service at many different levels. I am going to move on and take the Experience, Strength and Hope that you people have allowed me to obtain and use it at the Regional level. For the person that is new to doing service, whether it be service at the group or what we are doing here today try to always remember that service work is another part of facing life on lives terms, we don’t always get what we want when we want it. Service in Narcotics Anonymous is a very important part of what we do, set back look at the big picture. One more addict just might not die from the disease of addiction because of what we are doing here today.

Hello Ozark Area,
I’m Cara and I am an addict and the GSR of Together In Unity group in Nevada. Set Free and How It Works & Why have officially combined to form one group, Together In Unity. By combining the groups we have formed one strong group. This has helped financially and all service positions are filled. The attendance has improved as well as the unity.
We meet every night at 8:00pm at 427 N. Cedar in the basement. Attendance is averaging 8-11 addicts and we have a $20 donation for Area this month. We would also like to remind everyone that we are having the Unity Bash in Nevada on May 31st.
In Loving Service,
Cara D.

Good Afternoon Area,
Our attendance is 8 to 10 addicts per meeting. Never Alone meets Tuesdays at 8:00pm in the basement of the St. Lawrence Catholic Church. Our meetings are non-smoking, all Tuesdays except the last are closed discussion, the last is Birthday Night. We conduct our business meeting the 1st Tuesday of each month, directly after our meeting. The exact location is 405 7th St. Monett.
I’m truly sorry for not presenting this report in person. The young gentleman that I sponsor in N.A. has his graduation coming up and really wants me to be there to see him receive his diploma, he currently has 68 days (on 5-14-03) clean. I’m sorry to say this, but I feel that it is more important to see him receive his diploma at 72 days clean than to be at Area this month. He has really worked his ass off in the last 68 days of his recovery to stay clean and find happiness.
Now continuing with the report.
Motion – 0413031 = NO
Motion – 0413032 = Yes
Nomination RCM Steve H. = Yes
Remove PI Link = Yes
For old business from Survivors Group motion presented by Alan F. to have newspaper ad placed in the Globe, with the correct N.A. Hotline Phone Numbers. The Question to the Area us about this motion is does it contradict eliminating our phone line and having Region conduct Phone line maybe we don’t fully understand, Please explain and put in Area minutes next month, if possible.
Respectfully, Never Alone G.S.R. - Danny Hensley
PO Box 974, Monett, MO 65708-0974, 417-442-3706
P.S. June 15th is Father’s Day, the chair always asks if someone has any objections to certain dates for better accommodating G.S.R.s I will be unable to attend if Area holds its next committee meeting on 15th or the 22nd currently we have no alt-G.S.R. yet. I would like to suggest a date the 8th if possible, yes I know it is the 2nd Sunday, but we have done it in the years when these months come around.
We Do Recover meets at 1330 Wall in Joplin, MO 7 nights a week at 8pm and midnight on Fri & Dat.
Our meeting attendance has been fluctuating between 30 and 95 addicts. We have an Area donation of $30.00.
ILS, Renita G.
P.S. Since I’ve been GSR there have been 7 different times that I haven’t had Area minutes for our group business meetings which is 2 weeks after Area unless Area is changed because of a Reg. Meeting. I do take notes at Area but it is hard to write everything down. What needs to be done so we can get minutes before our group business meeting. We also can’t really vote on Reg. Stuff without Reg. minutes.
Discussion: Friday midnight meeting not opened at We Do.
Greetings Fellow Addicts,
I’m Shelie, and I am an addict.
Survivors members met yesterday for our monthly business meeting and voted to make a change in our format. Beginning in the month of June we will be having a speaker meeting the first Tuesday of each month. Edward D., alias Dr. Disc, has agreed to be our first speaker scheduled for June 3rd at 12 noon. Tuesdays are the days we have the most addicts coming in from various treatment centers. Our goal is to allow those from treatment centers to have an opportunity to hear some experience, strength and hope from the speakers we choose.
Our meetings are going well. Our rent is paid, literature is stocked. Members are willing to serve. We would like to host next month’s OASC if that is agreeable. We have a donation of $150.
Honored to Serve, Shelie V. – GSR
Can we get the web address printed on our meeting schedules?
