ADMINISTRATIVE REPORTS:

Vice-Chair Report:  Greetings OASC:

This past month I attended meetings in Joplin.  NA continues to welcome new and returning members into our fellowship.  Yesterday I attended subcommittee meetings at WDR from 1:30pm- 4:15pm.  7 addicts attended the PI subcommittee meeting.  13 addicts attended the H&I subcommittee meeting.  And 8 addicts attended the AASC subcommittee meeting.

I want to thank Jackee for typing the reports last month and emailing those to me.  I was able to copy and paste those easily into the minutes making only a few minor adjustments.  If anyone could do this again for me this month, I would greatly appreciate the help.  I’m praying that soon an addict will take interest in serving NA in this capacity.  I do enjoy the secretary position, and since I naturally take notes anywhere I go, it is not an inconvenience for me.  However, when a secretary is voted into position I will be able to more effectively perform as area vice chair.  Thank you for allowing me to be of service.

ILS - Shelie V, OASC Vice Chair

SUBCOMMITTEE REPORTS:

AASC Report:  Hello Area,

The AASC met Jan. 20, 2007 at 1330 Wall with 10 addicts attending.  We have recently encountered a problem with Orleans Trail Resort.  The resort will not be blocking any rooms for the picnic and at this time they only have 55 rooms open. They said they do not have any problem filling up in the summer without us being there. They said that they told David B. that when he talked to them.  David said he told us that and that he also put it in his report. One of the big selling points for moving the function was the fact that they had more rooms than Bucksaw.  At this time they have one less than Bucksaw has to offer.  On the weekend we will be there the resort has 25 rooms rented to a group having a family reunion.  The AASC will be meeting at 8:30 am on the 27th of Jan. to make a trip to Orleans Trail.  We will meet again at 4:00PM on Jan. 28th to make a decision about moving the picnic back to Bucksaw.  Last week, I called Bucksaw to see if it would be possible to come back there if things do not work out with Orleans Trail.  Sheila at Bucksaw had the cabins rented out, but she called the people and asked them if they could reschedule for another weekend if we come back.  Sheila called me back and said that they would reschedule and Sheila is holding the rooms until we make a decision.  I called Sheila again after the subcommittee meeting yesterday and told her we had not made a decision yet, but that we would contact her in a week.  She said that would be fine and she hoped we decided to come back.  At this time we have sold 15 of the 25 sweatshirts.  If we decided to go back to Bucksaw, we will figure out a way to compensate anyone one who is dissatisfied with the sweatshirt.  I will also be contacting Sugarcreek to inquire about the expense of changing the screen to reflect a move.  If we decided to go back to Bucksaw, we will distribute flyers at Cabin Fever, ask the RSO to include these flyers in any orders going out to the groups in the Area, make an announcement at regionals, and put it on the various NA websites.  With all of this going on, we cannot loose site of our primary purpose or our timeline.  Instead of pointing fingers and blaming ourselves and others, we as a subcommittee are committed to finding a solution.  We ask that you try to do the same thing.  We understand that this could bring about some controversy, but we ask that you bring your concerns to us instead of standing in the background pouring fuel on the fire.  The newcomers in this area do not need negative undertones about a function that has been geared for many years to show them the true meaning of “Secure in the Love of the Fellowship.”  As far as our timeline goes, it is time for us to be picking speakers, so please submit your choices for speakers as soon as possible.  The New Years Eve function went well.  The subcommittee decided not to have members donate food and soda as we had done in the past.  After all expenses, we have an area donation of $366.76

In Loving Service,  Renita G.

H & I Report:  Hello Ozark Area.

I am an addict named Steve who is humbly representing the Ozark Area H & I Subcommittee.  Yesterday

was the H & I subcommittee meeting and there were 12 addicts in attendance.  We opened with the Serenity Prayer and the reading of the Twelve Traditions & Concepts.  Kim S. reported for the Lafayette House that all is going well and all meetings were carried in, needed schedules and they were given to them.  Pam M. had previously informed me that the woman's side of Jasper County Jail is going well and 1 meeting had been missed.  Talked to Melissa W. by phone and she informed me that our new book study at the Ozark Center on Virginia is doing well and for now has good representation.  Steve S. reported that the Ozark Center on Picher is doing well and so was the book study that we do there.  Talked to Jimmy Q. today and he said McDonald County is doing well but they are not getting any attendance from the jail, he last couple of times. Alan F. reports that he is given up the liaison position for the Jasper County jail but 1 meeting was missed because of weather.  With Alan F. stepping down David B. had stepped up to that liaison position and will get a hold of jail Monday to begin repore with them.  We discussed the up and coming H & I workshop. The date has been set for June the 16th at the Miners building with, skits, music, speakers and food. Kim S. has been put in charge of this with any and all proceeds above expenses being given to the Ozark Area.  More will be revealed and flyers will be out soon.  Also discussed a little about maybe the committee members getting together and going over the handbook.  In Loving Service,  Steve S.

P.I. Report (2 reports):

Sharing Session

-         Group conscience/group vote is how one addict says they understand subcommittees to work.

-         An addict says the H&I handbook does say the H&I chair is autonomous, and that is open to interpretation.

-         An addict points out that group members vote subcommittee chairs into position, and then have to trust those elected not to abuse their positions.

-         An addict expresses the understanding that subcommittees as a whole are trusted to make their own decisions but never one addict alone.

-         Discussion was dropped.

-         A flier listing open area positions, which briefly describes the duties of those subcommittees, was given to this addict.  An Outreach handbook was also offered to him for review, but he did not wish to take it with him.
