ADMINISTRATIVE REPORTS:

Chair Report:  Hello Ozark Area,

We are fast approaching a new year.  I personally think the Ozark Area Sub-Committee has done

a fine job thus far, and look forward to a new year filled with more of the same.  I would like to see more people step up and fill the service positions that have been open for so long.  We need your help!!!  I would like to thank everyone for the hard work and dedication that has been put forth so far.

I.L.S.  Kenny C.

Vice-Chair Report:  Hello Ozark Area:

I did not attend P.I. or H. & I. sub-committee meetings yesterday.  I returned home with Tony about 1:45pm.  Since he has not been home for 3 months, I decided to spend some time with him.

I received a call from Steve and Dawson at 1:40pm asking me if I was coming to the P.I. sub-committee meeting.  They explained to me that some sudden changes had occurred.  I told them I could be there at 2 pm if they needed me to, but they said not to worry about it.  I was confidant they could work things out, so I did not go and try to "save the day".  I was able to attend the AASC meeting from 4-5 pm.  Everything there seems to be going well with only 2 vacant positions.

As far as last month's area inventory, the tally is attached to Nov. minutes.  6 out of 10 groups participated.  Looking over those results I highlighted in my copy any question whose 3 or more groups noted this area needs improvement or that this area does not practice at all.  In the section "How well has the area served local groups this year", 5 out of 14 questions (36%) were highlighted.  This seems to suggest improvement is needed here.  No questions were highlighted in the 2 final sections entitled "How well has the area done this year in making NA's message more widely known in the larger community " and "How well has the area cooperated and collaborated with the region and NA World Services this year".  This suggests that the majority of our groups is satisfied with these areas.  There were 2 questions at the end of the inventory.  I would like to read to you the responses to those questions.

     1)  Is there any particular area of service and/or area function that you perceive is outstanding?

          a.  H & I, HOLP, P.I.

          b.  HOLP, AGAPE, numerous others gatherings.

          c.  Relationship with outside communities and relationship with region.

          d.  Plenty of spectators.

     2)  Is there any particular area of service and/or function that you perceive would need improvement?

          a.  Support to local groups on the out lying areas.

          b.  More trusted servants.

          c.  Foster more sense of unity within local groups.

          d.  Getting information out.

          e.  Outreach, Lit. Review, communication.

          f.  Not enough participants.

Thank you for participating in the area inventory.  I have enjoyed serving as interim secretary.  However, if anyone else is willing to help out by filling in this month, I would be grateful.  We can deal with January when it gets here.  I.L.S.  Shelie V.

RCM Report:  Hello Ozark Area,

Nothing to report this month, but would like to remind groups that I need regional votes and that January will be my last regional.  I am willing to go to region in April and July with the new RCM.

In Loving Service, Dale S.

H & I Report:  Hello Ozark Area.

I am a addict named Steve who is humbly representing the Ozark Area.  Yesterday was our sub-committee meeting there were 8 addicts in attendance.  Jasper County is doing well on both the men's

Ozark Area Narcotics Anonymous Webmaster's report for December:

The Area website is running smoothly, without any reported problems. Schedule, activities, and email addresses are up to date. As I update the na.org site, new groups submitted to the site will automatically began to receive a copy of The NA Way. The copies come to me until I submit a new mailing address. The group Under Grace's copy is in a package of items I gave to Renita to give to Area. If I could get a mailing address for the Under Grace group, they can begin to receive it directly. Thanks, ILS. Sharing Session

  • Dale handed out NA Way magazines to groups
  • Discussed area inventory results

-                      Chair asked groups for comments/suggestions regarding the statements marked “needs improvement” & “not at all” practiced… no comments from groups…

-                      Area trusted servants brainstormed a while on ways to address the noted concerns groups marked on the inventory questionnaire

1.       It was suggested that “unity” be brought up during group discussion meetings, and that appropriate examples of expressing an attitude of fostering unity among groups are offered to addicts at that time.

2.       A “unity” workshop at an AASC function was suggested.

3.       Having an AASC function in towns of out-lying groups was suggested.

4.       Having a Learning Days centered AASC function instead of a Speaker-centered function was suggested.

5.       It was suggested that area trusted servants become more aware of how they speak about service work in general but particularly relating to area service work - remembering our primary purpose.  We were also reminded that each of us volunteered for the position we currently hold.

(Break 3:15-3:30pm)

  • It was pointed out that according to the area inventory questions this area is functioning at 81%.  Over-all we seem to be doing what groups need us to do.  The OASC agreed to continue to work on those areas about which groups seem to be concerned.
